Event: Plasticizer is added in to food in Taiwan
According to CNTV, on May 24, 2011, the food aditives “beverage cloud” made by Taiwan “Lishen spice Co., Ltd” contains a chemistry ingredient DEHP, which has already been used to produce several kinds of drinks.
Up to 30th, according to Taiwans Health Departments latest statistical data, there are 64 manufactures and 94 products being confirmed to have Carcinogenic additives. The drinks, calcium tablet, Lactobacillus chewed piece and so on are also in the list, even the Childrens cold syrup may contain plasticizer.
PAEs has been a hot word in the media all these days, it is said that PAEs is also abused in the toys, textiles, makeups and so on.
Harms: PAEs may destroy our body
Research shows that if we consume the PAEs for a long term, our liver and kidnery will be poisoned. The toxicity of plasticizer is 20 times stronger than that of Melamine. A grown-up can only bear 1.2 mg every day, which means that a person drinking 500ml drink with plasticizer is the limit.
Besides, if we touch toys or make-ups containing PAEs too much times, it will increase the probability of contracting childrens precocious puberty or breast cancer. It can also lead to miscarriage or fetus deformity.
Policy: Plasticizer is Put into the Blacklist of Non-food Substance
According to Xin Hua News Agency on June 1, the Food Safety Committee of State Council has already taken actions, and they have strengthen the inspection of drinks and food addictives imported from Taiwan.
The inspection is mainly focused on the links of imports and exports, marketing circulation, food and beverages. Once the products are tested poisonous, they will be sealed up and recalled. On May 31, Guangdong Quality Supervision Department closed down a Taiwan invested enterperise called “Donwan Yuyan Food Co., Ltd”. This company used food additives containing PAEs, the products of which mainly exporting to Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Dongwan and so on. The information of flow direction of the products is being researched and announced to public.
Meanwhile, the National Food Safety Department has already put the PAEs into the blacklist of non-food substance.
