Skyray establishes Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments

Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments, formerly R&D department, is a research institute set up by Skyray after half a year preparation and investment of adequate fund and talents. The main goal of this newly-established academy is: 1) to promote the research and development of spectrometer, chromatographs and mass spectrometers, i.e. the three major analytical instruments types; 2) to enhance the application of analytical instruments in environment protection and natural resources utilization; 3) to digest the newest scientific achievements and to master the key critical techniques through self-innovation and autonomous design; 4) to build a series of Chinese instruments brands with totally independent intellectual property rights.

Dr. Richard Liu, Chairman of Skyray Instrument Inc, will serve concurrently as the president of the Academy. Liu, a graduate from Tsinghua University in 1990, majored in Nuclear Physics. From then on, he has been engaged in the R&D of analytical and measuring instruments, especially X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometers. He founded Skyray Instrument Inc in 1992, which has undergone rapid growth in the recent 16 years. At present, the company has ranked one of the best analytical instrument companies in China and marketed its products to more than 50 countries and regions. It was recognized as, to some extent, the world renown instrument company. Dr. Liu, being systematically trained and academically gifted, has published more than ten papers on analytical instruments technologies in magazines issued nationally or internationally. He was the general designer of Skyray Instrument’s Research and Development Department, who drives the company to advance continuously with his pioneering spirit and prudent scientific innovations. Today Skyray has three subsidiary companies named Jiangsu Skyray Information Technology Co., Ltd, Beijing Bandwise Technology Development Co., Ltd and Beijing F.Y. Be Realistic General Instrument Co., LTD respectively. It has more than 50 sales offices in China and more than 30 overseas distributors in the world. Dr. Liu is at present the vice chairman of Kunshan Doctors’ Club, a member of China Instrument and Control Society Analytical Instrument Society, a winner of the first-time Kunshan Science and Technology Heroes Award and a winner of Jiangsu Provincial Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions in 2008.

Skyray Academy of Analytical and Measuring Instruments is constituted of three centers, i.e. Analytical Instruments Research and Development Center, Physical and Chemical Analysis and Test Center, Analytical and Measuring Technique Application Development Center. Our senior engineer Mr. Li Shenghui and our optics expert Dr. Zhang Shulong are in charge of Analytical Instruments Research and Development Center. Li was a graduate from Xidian University, and an experienced instrument developer with dedicated 15 years service in this field. Dr. Zhang is an optics doctor graduated from Tsinghua University, who currently serves as the General Manager of Beijing F.Y. Be Realistic General Instrument Co., Ltd. Dr. Yao Dongliang, Tsinghua University graduate of Engineering Physics, is overseeing the Physical and Chemical Analysis and Test Center and Analytical and Measuring Technique Application Development Center. The Academy is now composed of the following staff: 1 academician (for strategic guidance), 11 doctors, 13 senior engineers, 17 postgraduates, and 22 undergraduates.
